Sedona Bound

I love the desert.  I love the ocean.  I love the mountains.  I’ve spent some time in Colorado, I’ve spent some time in California and I’ve spent an awful lot of time in Florida.  I’ve driven through the desert, but never really parked it anyplace except Vegas.  And frankly, I don’t really care if I ever go to Vegas again.

This is my friend Christine.  She’s at Burning Man.  It’s in Black Rock City, Nevada.  That’s a place in Nevada I will go to someday.  But Vegas again?  Nope.  Don’t want to do it.  I love this photo of her.  I actually love all the photos I’ve seen from Burning Man.  But that’s another vacation yet to come.

This time on Saturday to be exact, we will be flying into Vegas.  The reason for that is that’s where Allegiant flys into for the best deal.  Immediately we will pick up our car and drive to Flagstaff.  Once there we are spending the night and getting up the next day to view the Grand Canyon.  That will be awesome.  I’ve never seen it.  It’s time.

This is a girl trip.  My good friend (that I met at yoga years ago) and I are taking our daughters (who are 3 months apart in age) with us.  So if you were thinking about breaking into my house while I was gone, think again.  I’m leaving my husband and our son behind to guard my massive possessions.  Which would probably and sadly enough, fit in my Volvo.  And it’s not a wagon, it’s a four door.

After one night in Flagstaff and a view of the Grand Canyon for an entire day, we’ll head on over to Sedona.  I’ve wanted to go there for quite some time now.  We’ve got 4 nights in Sedona and I couldn’t be happier about that.  We hope to take a jeep ride into the desert.  We hope to get a great massage.  I hope to take in a great yoga class.  We will stop at Oak Creek Canyon.  We hope to eat some extremely tasty food.   We’re planning on checking out a gigantic Indian medicine wheel on a nearby reservation.  We will also take it easy.

I like vacations like this the best.  The easy kind.  The kind where there are no serious plans.  The kind where you just get up and decide what you want to do based on how everyone is feeling, or what the weather’s like.  I like vacations that aren’t too touristy.  I can tire of that pretty quickly.

I hope to get some great photographs and I hope to see the massive moon on the 19th.  It’s suppose to be amazing.  And guess what?  It’s suppose to be cloudy and rainy when we arrive.  But you know what?  I don’t care.  I’ll be on vacation and that’s a good thing no matter what the weather’s like.

Bon Voyage!
